Not sure my power supply is dead or my motherboard ?

Hi, i recently changed my cpu fan "never took the cpu out its socket" but after changing it all i found that my pc would not start up. I presumed that it was the processor and put in an older processor in but again it still didn't start up.

"When i say didn't start up i mean that nothing turns on except a green L.E.D on the motherboard but i am guessing that it doesn't mean anything"

I have tried the paper clip test on my psu and it failed it but my psu has never given any sign of malfunction.

So i am wondering if it is worth just buying a new psu or is there a better way i could test it to check if it is the motherboard.

Thanks.

Spec

Cpu: amd fx 8350
2nd Cpu : amd fx 4130

Gpu : Radeon hd 7870

Motherboard Asus m5a99fx pro r2.0

Psu : Alpine silent power supply 750 w

Ram Gil Dragon Ram 8gb

Solution
Unplug your PC and remove the CMOS battery (looks like a big watch battery) for about a minute. Then pop it back in and try again.

And it very may well be the PSU, I've never heard of Alpine lol

Make sure the switch wire is still plugged in to the motherboard. I can't tell you how many times I open my case and start fiddling around with stuff that that wire comes off - alas I turn on my machine and nothing happens!

Yea i double check it all that is what normally goes wrong for me too :(

Tried removing the battery and nothing, Safe to assume that it is just the psu ?
