Hi, I just had a windows pop-up stating that my main c: had been flagged and is due to fail. Backup immediately.

I decided to run a diagnostics tool on the c:.

SMART - Fail

HD Tune Pro - (05) Retired Block Count - 1 - attention.

I just ran chkdsk on the c: and shows no bad sectors.

What else can I try, and should i be concerned.

No system problems that I know too.

Thanks in advance.

UPDATE :

I've run Hard Disk Sentinel and its saying I have 15617 bad sectors, and Total start/stop count 2364469456 and 14 days estimated life.

Is it possible that SMART info has become corrupt and giving false info?

I have done a deep surface scan with numerous tools including Hard Disk Sentinel and Spinrite. All tests have passed with no bad sectors at all??

Secondly this drive s only 3 months old. No way has it done 2.3 billion stop/starts.

Ideas from professionals?
