Help with connection from GPU->Monitor

Right, I'm waiting for http:// to be delivered which seems to be my best option with the budget I have but it doesn't have a VGA connection ( what I'm currently using ) only a display port, HDMI, DVI-I and DVI-D.

My monitor has 1 HDMI slot and 1 VGA but the HDMI slot is taken up by my PS3 and I don't feel like switching HDMI cable over all the time so I would buy another HDMI cable and a HDMI splitter but I can only find ones that cost £20-60 which seems fairly expensive, to me at least. Or they look like the cheapest thing ever which makes me not want to buy it.

My other option then is to get cable like http://www.amazon.co.uk/Monitor-Premium-Quality-Connectors-CPO-Black-Blue-Moulded/dp/B00226EEQG/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top but will it make the picture quality a bit "dodgy" due to the monitor having a VGA connection and not the quality of the DVI-I?

What's my best option here?

you will get a dvi to vga adapter with the card. you can use that and a normal dsub cable to the monitor. the adapter will work on the dvi port labeled vga (not the dvi-d one) - dvi-i will work.

edit: or if you have a dvi input on the monitor you can use that one and the dvi-d output

for just a fiver, it's worth a try and see if your eyes notice that it's less than you would be happy with. VGA isn't that bad of a connection, it's just older and analog, but can still drive 1920x1080 quite well.

I was expecting to be able to do this but when I was looking at unboxing videos of the exact card to see if it came with an adapter no one got one, all they got was a 6-pin to molex, drivers CD and the quick setup booklet.

I'll wait to see if it does actually contain one before I buy anything else though.

i looked now at a couple of unboxing vids too and looks like indeed there's no dvi to vga. quite weird to not include one... it's a few dollars in any pc shop so no worries...

if you're concerned about image quality check for a dvi input on the monitor, it would get you the same image quality as hdmi.

I just remembered that my friend should have a spare one from his gpu so I'll ask him if he still has it if not I'll just go find one in the shops
