Replacement motherboard windows 7 oem

I replaced my motherboard because my old was defective and had to be replaced.I have an OEM copy of Windows 7 do I have to do complete re install or what I am really confused

What happens when you try to boot the computer up? Is it giving you an error? If so, you might want to tell us what error.

When you replaced your motherboard, was it just your motherboard, or also your CPU?

If the replacement motherboard is the exact same make and model, then all you might have to do is phone Microsoft to get the activation key. If you used a different (upgrade) Motherboard, then you might need to purchase a new license, as well as possibly doing a clean install.

^ I've never seen anyone have to do that. Most of the time you call them and explain your old motherboard died, that model couldn't be found anymore, and you replaced it with a different one. Then they pass it through just fine.

I don't know the international number, but you can find it on Microsoft's site.

If the computer isn't working right now, without installing it, then yes, you're going to have to do a re-install.
