Basically i dont know anything about raid or setting up storage devices. I have heard of raid 0,1... Im building my first pc and i have an 840 250gb Evo SSD and WD 1tb caviar Blue. I want the SSD to be my boot drive and also programs and games, and my HDD to be storage for media. How should i setup the raid thing? I dont really care that much about storage failure (incase of raid 0 which i've heard might result in data lose) since i backup my system regurarly. Thanks in advance.

In this case, just don't use RAID, Set SATA to AHCI in BIOS and install Windows and applications on the SSD. Then connect the HDD, initialize and format it in Disk management and that's it.

Should i just install my SSD first and after installing windows on it install the HDD?

yeah, that is the best way to go about it. some people have complications when trying to install windows with 2 drives plugged in. your method is the most sound.

Yes, connect firstly the SSD, install Windows on it and after making sure that Windows does run, power off, connect the HDD, initialize and format it.
But if still wanting to use RAID, get a second similar 1 TB HDD and you can use them (HDDs) in RAID 0.
