Will any decent graphics cards work with my ancient motherboard?

My motherboard is an ASRock 4 core 1600 GLAN
http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/4Core1600-GLAN/

Basically it has an Intel core 2 quad Q8200 2.33 GHz processor (which was amazing when i bought it, apparently) and is limited to 4GB of RAM (which I have installed, along with a sound card and a LAN card, because the motherboard stopped recognizing LAN cables a few years ago). My graphics card is a GeForce 9400 GT.

My display resolution is 1920 x 1080

Can anyone recommend graphics cards up to approx £120 ($150) that would work with my motherboard and would be better than my piss poor 9400GT? I'd like to play a game that isn't mine sweeper.

Cheers

Thanks

  1. That Core2Quad is better than you're giving it credit for. The Radeon HD 7770, HD 7790 or HD 7850 would be a good fit in that system.

Thank you, is it? Are you sure they would be compatible?

Also the three you suggested all require a 500W minimum power supply, and mine is 450W. :/
  3. That is hardly ancient. Not like AGP or something.
Yes they should be fine with the G31 chipset. It didn't suffer from the PCI-E compatibility issues of previous chipsets.
