Are my cpu temps safe?

I recently started to over clock my i5-4670k with a hyper 212 evo. When I run the Intel burn in test the temps get 85-90 degrees. When I play a game or run the valley benchmark the temps don't even go over 70 degrees. Do I have anything to worry about? Should I turn down the voltage?

85 to 90 is too hot however the 70 degrees is something you can live with.

Should I be worried about it since I get those temps during the burn in, not in gameplay? Also, I changed the overclock to 4.2GHz and now the temps during game play don't get over 55 degrees. Still, during the test the temps get to 80. Is there any reason there is such a huge jump in temperature?

Burn test gives 100% cpu utilization, gaming does not. That is why they are different. No need to worry about it because it is perfectly normal.

As they said, kinda up to you.

Personally, I try to stay under 80°C when running stress tests. Which leaves me with much headroom for day-to-day usage.
