High Tom's Hardware! I'm putting together a new build and would like some feedback (Primary use, gaming w/ overclocking but that'll be obvious). Initially the build will consist of
Case: Rosewill Throne Black w/
Window
Power Supply: Corsair HX850
Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VI
Extreme
CPU: Intel i7-4770K
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 2x8GB
HDD: WD20EZRX 2TB
Video: EVGA GTX 760 4GB
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro

It's a big build but I've been saving for a long while so money isn't a problem here. i plan on adding a second GTX 760, 3 ASUS 24" monitors, and a Corsair closed loop water cooler at a later date, most likely mid May. I guess my biggest question would be on overall compatibility of the parts, esp. the PSU. I've done a ton of research and have working knowledge of assemble and a friend who's done it before.

Solution
Yes, get the 4GB. Multiple monitors use up more VRAM, and in fact the downside of the 780 and 780 Ti right now are that they have 3GB VRAM. Even 2GB is a lot for single monitor, but with three of em, this can be a benefit on some memory heavy games.

Also the Asus Maximus Extreme does have audio too fyi. You can always buy a wifi adapter if you need it, either in the form of USB or PCIe.

I think the motherboard is very much overkill, even assuming you are going SLI and will add an SSD. Are you sure you need such connectivity? You could save a couple hundred dollars easy and go for something like a GTX 780.

@Specops
I want to stay future proof so I'd like to stick with the z87 chipset, what would you advise for the mobo (sticking with a red and black palette if possible). Also, hows the 780 compare against 760 sli on 3 monitors at ultra (BF4, Skyrim, Crysis 3)? I appreciate the help!

Future proofing is a fair concern, but with more expensive motherboards, think of it as a horizontal upgrade, you are getting more of the same (more PCIe 3.0 slots, more USB 3.0 ports, etc.) as opposed to stronger capabilities. Put another way, if you use only 2 SATA ports and paid for a motherboard with 10, you're not getting any benefit.

CPU's and motherboard chipsets are actually tied so that they can never vary. The 4770K fits in the LGA 1150 motherboard socket. All LGA 1150 motherboards are Z87's. Some of the other Intel CPUs, such as the 4930K, are LGA 2011, and those all have X79 chipsets.

So getting back to the Asus motherboards, if you want red and black I'd go with the Asus Maximus VI Hero @ $200. This motherboard is perfect for two card SLI, but it would be a little slower if you tried to do three card. Do you plan on ever doing a three card, or even four card SLI? Also, this board has LAN, but it doesn't come with wifi (the one you originally selected did)

If the color scheme isn't very important, you could get the Asus Z87-A for $140. The price difference is mostly in the loss of some ports, but this mobo also will do two way SLI just as well the other Asus mobo I linked above or the one your originally selected).

760 4GB SLI would I think be a little better then a single 780. If 780 SLI is a bit much, what about 770 SLI with the money saved or a single 780 Ti?

Thank you! that's advise I'd not thought about on the chipset and socket. as far as wifi, initially I thought it'd be a nice addition but in all honesty it would end up being unused fluff. I like the Max VI Hero, I didn't realize that the Ex didn't have the onboard audio which the Hero does. Also i couldn't justify 3+ cards price tag to my gf in this world or the next and in that light as well i'll do the two-way 770's to spread out the cost a couple months rather than the titan. At $20 per card more does the 4gb vram upgrade make a difference in this build?

OK, thanks for the help! The 850w PSU is a good go? Things are getting more and more efficient so without going bleeding edge on graphics and mobo i figure that oughta last me a good long time

damn i missed that audio, was looking for the SupremeFX -.-
