I recently ordered a motherboard the asus m5 a97 r.20. I recieved it with a broken plastic clip with a spring on it that holds a metal piece to the motherboard. on this picture here http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5643744&SRCCODE=WEBGOOPA&cm_mmc_o=mH4CjC7BBTkwCjCV1-CjCE&gclid=CPr_6ZqQ_7sCFQbl7Aodri0Afw it is the top left blue block and one side is not fastned tight. Is this a huge problem? would it stop it from working? I cannot get this motherboard to show anything to the screen. I was thinking it woudlnt effect it from working, but I am a noobie at building computers. I added 4 patriot viper xtreme ddr3 4GB for ram, and a fx 9370 4.7 ghz max turbo, 4.4 ghz base processor by amd fx 8core, and a radeon hd 7750 core edition.2gb ddr3 . Kind of sad I cant get it working yet. Im hoping its just that pin. So anyone who can help me in any way I do appreciate it. I dont even know what that blue metal part is. I am thinking maybe a heatsink part. you can contact me on here or by email at wordup@live.com, thanks. oh ya I am trying windows 7 with sata 1tb drive. I installed it on the hard drive first to make sure its working. Maybe i should format it again.

Oddly enough, you have bought the same board I have. Unfortunately, yes, this will cause horrible future complications. I wouldn't trust any part with broken bits on it. But there's good news. Contact the manufacturer and request a new motherboard to be sent provided that you send in your defective motherboard.

True, it could be a totally different fault in the motherboard. Perhaps what ever broke off that heat-sink, broke something, or short circuited, something else as well. Either case, you will need to get a replacement board. Which, they will kindly give to you as long as you mail back your defective board back to them. The only thing that it will cost you is shipping (few bucks) and time.
