JAVA UPDATES for pc

HI,I just got a notification about a JAVA update and when i went to their web site it said i had to run their PC UTILITY program and scan my PC WHICH we ALL KNOW WILL SAY I HAVE THOUSANDS OF problems with my PC,can you get these so called updates without running their PC SCAN,thanks

one other thing i forgot to mention is,you dont even need java.its mostly used by bussiness and can be uninstalled from your computer with no problem. it is also a malware magnet. yes browsers use scripts but not java.internet explorer uses activex while firefox and others use java script (not to be confused with java).keep in mind there are bad (harmful) scripts out there so i recommend running some kind of protection. avast has it built in or there is another program called no script but there is a bit of a learning curve to use it.bottom line,i havent run java in quite some time and not a problem.
