Solved

I shut down my PC when I was installing windows 7. Now nothing gets displayed on my monitor. Turns on fine though.

I wanted to reset my Alienware x51 with windows 8 because I just had to much clutter and wanted to delete everything and restart. So I entered my windows 7 install disk and started the installation. After awhile it just went black. I left it on overnight thinking it might just be doing something but in the morning it was still black. I've restarted my pc multiethnic times and nothing will be displayed. Tried multiple displays but nothing works. The PC sounds like it is running fine but now I don't know what to do. Thank you for any help. Btw not a computer genius so may need help with terminology and things of that nature. But I'm fairly competent.

  1. Did you tell your computer to boot from CD when you did this?
  2. Yes I did, when I entered the cd, it popped up in a window so it must've been from the cd. Plus it asked if I want to goo online to get new updated settings but I decided not to but to stay with what was on the disk.

I meant if you did it in the BIOS? This is where it should have been done. So that when it starting installing Win7 it has to reboot afew times for the software...
  4. No I do not know how to do that, and didn't know I was suppose to.

Did you check all connections, the video to the computer as well as to the displays? The x51 is a pretty new system, is it in warranty? If yes, contact Dell for support. It may have just happened to die while you were doing the setup, bad motherboard, RAM, video card, power supply can cause systems not to boot while actually power.
