My current setup is very basic when it comes to gaming, averaging on ultra 35 - 75 FPS (depending on the games), I want to know if upgrading my GPU to the next gen is worth doing. this is my current setup...

Mo/BO: Asus M5A78L-M/USB3

RAM: Crucial ballistix 1 x 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz

CPU: Amd FX 6100, 3.3Ghz

GPU: HD 7770 Ghz OC 1GB sapphire

PSU: 550 watt cooler master 80 plus

OS: windows 7 home premium x64 bit

HDD-1: 250GB seagate 5200 Rpm sata 2 HDD (os & programs)

HDD-2: 2TB seagate barracuda 7200 Rpm sata 3 HDD (steam games & movies)

DVD: pioneer dvd w/r 24x

Case: cooler master k280

Any and all advice would be a huge help :D

a 270x has roughly twice the power of a 7770. The 760 is a better gpu, but goes around $30 more or so. Your psu and everything is fine for an upgrade to a 270x/760 card and you will notice an improvement in performance.

My budget is roughly around 300 - 320 NZD (new zealand currency) for this is where I live :)

I have looked into both of the cards (270x & 760) and the specs for the 270x seem to be higher. but would the 760 preform better in most modern games, Eg BF4, The forst game to use AMD mantle to increase preformance 50%...

As I said I'd recommend getting an R9 280X, Sapphire makes really good ones

I wouldn't recommend getting a 280x, at least in america they are extremely over priced right now and terrible value. They are more expensive than the more powerful 770. If you want to go with AMD then stick with the 270x, anything above that you have to go nvidia right now.

What are the prices like there for a 280X vs a 270X?

Thanks for the quick reply woltej1, the 270x keeps sounding better and better now. and beats most cards in the price range for performance :D

270x it $288.90 NZD and 280x is $438...
so, like woltej1 said it is really overpriced at the moment...

Dang, in that case go for a 270X I think you will be happy with it, and as I said Sapphire is probably the best at making AMD GPU's, this time round the Tri-X Toxic is the best and the Vapor-X is the second best. And the Dual-X is a budget minded version that is still pretty decent at doing it's job, however if you can get a Gigabyte Windforce for the same price as a Dual-X then go for the Windforce. Hope I helped out in choosing a card man, good luck.

the asus direct cuII is the coolest running card right now, I'd go with that.

Alright, good luck man and have fun, and woltej1 the 270X TOXIC Tri-X is the coolest running, and the ASUS is 40+ more dollars than the Sapphire Dual-X so really it isn't worth that difference
