I'm looking to move the internet to my room. I plan on buying another modem and using an Ethernet cable to do so.
I checked which access point I have and it differs from the other one we use. I'm not sure if they are the same thing, or if this one can be used for internet.

This is the one in my room, wondering if this will connect to the internet via coaxial cable?

This is the one I'm using and am used too.

I'm very confused. I tried looking into it, but I couldn't find the answer I was looking for so it confused me more.. @_@

If that plug is usable for internet access, tips on how to hook it up would be great! Thanks!

I think the first one is for TV signals. The second one is more like what cable modems use. That said you could swap the front plate to match the second one if you are able to find the other end of the cable behind the plate and connect it to the internet cables at the other end.

This is what I thought, I just wanted confirmation from someone to make sure. Unfortunately we live in a rented house, so we can't do that or I would probably give it a go.

Thanks!

Many times it is more than just moving a modem. someplace behind everything likely there are coax splitters that connect all these jack together. There are special splitters you need to pass the frequencies needed by cable modems depends how old the system is. The recommended place is at the very first splitter as the signal enters the house every splitter degrades the signal.
All you can really do is try it and see if it works. If you do not get the speed expected or if you start seeing drops you may have to hunt down and replace the splitters
