I need help please!
My Win7x64 system randomly freezes, I can not open or close anything. I can not even start the task manager. The only clue is that the hard drive light is on solid for about 60 seconds, it goes off and then the system is usable again. The drive is a Samsung SSD 840 PRO about 5-6 months old. It has the latest firmware and latest Samsung Magician software. My pagefile is only about 200mb, I have Nortons 360 running, daily scans with Malwarebytes and Trojan Remover. Also System Mechanic runs a daily scan.
Advice please? My first thoughts are bad drive or something wrong with Win7, I did a fresh install 5-6 months ago when I install the 840 Pro.

I appreciate all thoughts and comments.

I do own Acronis, so I could do this. Would you do the full back up.
Then re-format the 840 Pro (my C-drive), reinstall Windows.
And just reinstall everything like new? You would restore the Acronis back up would you?
(Sounds like a Friday night project)
Thank you

Yes. I understand that it sounds a lot more daunting than it actually is. Shouldn't take you more than an hour. Delete partition, format in the windows install then just install the motherboard and vga drivers, directx, and if at this point your machine freezes up, then you know there's something wrong with the hard drive.

Alternatively, try a system restore to a point before this started happening.

Narrowing down something like this can be a nightmare and it helps to exclude everything possible.

As a follow up, I deleted the partition and did a fresh install.
So far it's been three days and zero freezes. So I will conclude that it was corrupt files
causes this and not my Samsung 840 Pro.
