Guys what is bottleneck?
I have a Core i3 1st gen. CPU and I plan to buy the Sapphire Radeon R9-270X. But my retailer tells me that my CPU is bottlenecked and I need to go for a Core i5.

The thing is i do not have enough to spend on a CPU too..

What will happen if I install the new graphic card? Will my CPU blow up or something? Or will I lose a terrible amount of performance?

you should see an fps increase, but with that resolution i would have expected your gtx650 to perform quite well. the best way to determine if you are cpu bottlenecked, run the game, see what fps you are getting at 1366x768, then change to the lowest resolution...

Your retailer tells you that your CPU will cause a bottleneck. That is, it's too slow and won't be able to help the R9-270x work at its best. You'll end up with the CPU at 100%, the graphics card using only a fraction of its power, and lower fps that you'd expect from that graphics card.

What will happen if you install the new graphics card anyway - it will work, but it will disappoint you. You might as well buy a cheaper card, like the R7-260x. Nothing will blow up, no worries.

I currently have a Geforce GTX 650. But it lags horribly below 30fps on Assassin's Creed 4. (Medium settings) If i buy this card will there be no difference? Will i get the same fps?

you can probably find a first gen quad core i5 on ebay reasonably cheap to suit your motherboard. most new games see a good improvement from 4 cores. the older i3's arent too bad though, they have hyperthreading and can be overclocked easily. a 270x should be fine, some games will benefit from a faster cpu though.

So..there will be a fps improvement? Can I put the graphics to high and play in games like Battlefield 4 or AC4? I'm running at 1366x768 resolution btw.

you should see an fps increase, but with that resolution i would have expected your gtx650 to perform quite well. the best way to determine if you are cpu bottlenecked, run the game, see what fps you are getting at 1366x768, then change to the lowest resolution you can chose, probably 800x600, this will take the load off your gpu, and try again. if fps increase significantly by reducing resolution, then you need a faster gpu.
If you dont notice much of an improvement from significantly reducing the screen resolution, then you are cpu bottlenecked and would see better performance from upgrading your cpu.
A bottleneck is exactly what the word means, the neck of a bottle goes from a wide point to a narrow point, the most restrictive point is the neck. you want to upgrade whatever part of your machine is the neck (the part slowing it down the most) to get best bang for buck of your upgrade.
