Approximate Purchase Date: Within the next 2 weeks

Budget Range: 1500-2000 Before

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming, workstation work (entry level)

Are you buying a monitor: Maybe (If i can fit something good in)

Parts to Upgrade: New Build so all new parts.except the monitor

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com

Location: Phila, PA / USA

Parts Preferences: No real preference but ASUS's has been good to me in the past.

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: No

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I've had this PC for 6 years upgraded once, but I believe its time to start anew. I know a bit more now.

Parts I've selected so far...

Processor: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5Ghz Quad-Core

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z87

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1866 MHz (PC3 15000)
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007R1SN36/?tag=pcpapi-20

Video Card: MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 3GB GDDR5

Power Supply: Corsair Gaming Series 800W ATX

(Option: An R9 290X)

Let me know your opinion? Thanks all!

Phila, PA?
thats funny.. you're only like an hour away from where i am at.

what kind of workstation work? photoshop, video editing? anything really demanding? if not, you can definitely dial back in some areas.

for gaming... i5 is fine, 8gb ram is fine

gtx780 isnt bad. 800w psu is overkill. 290x is very nice but prices are high due to bitcoin mining (since 290x is the best at it)

i would buy off of newegg and use promo deals. perhaps a little off ebay if you find a deal and definitely from microcenter if they have a good deal. the store down in st davids is awesome.

let me know what exactly you're going to be doing/playing so we can get a better idea of what you need.

since you're in my same time zone... if you want to have a quick chat about it i could make an irc channel or if you have a ps3 we could hop onto voice chat to explain your options.

Small world!

I am getting into 3D Art and rendering. As well as Modding Games and stuff. I have a day job so it won't be something I do all trhe time but enought to warrent an new system.

Yes, i roll over to St Davids all the time. its about 30 minutes from me. yes a great store after i found it existed LOL. Its come in very handy.

Wow Did not know that about the 290X. I had no idea why the prices was higher then advertised previously.

Maybe once I get home a chat would be ideal!
