Hi everyone,
I'm new to building PCs (never built one) and was hoping to get some advice. I've got an Alienware x51 (running GTX 660) at the moment and I'm wanting to upgrade.
I've made a setup here: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/2BAG9
Could i get some advice on this setup and how I could improve it?
Thanks,
-Adam

Is there a specific reason why you are going with previous gen Intel, instead of Haswell? The prices are pretty much the same.. I would go with I5 4670k and z87 motherboard. Also go with 1600 mhz RAM, something like Crucial Ballistix Tactical.

Also if avaibale in Australia, you can save a few AUD and get ASUS r9 280x instead of gtx770, performance wise it is very much the same and it is cheaper in many countries. gtx 770 is very good of course and if you want that chip, I would go for MSI gaming edition, Twin Frozr cooler on that thing is amazing.

Allright, cpu is good, board is very good, A-DATA ram are also fine, but 270x is quite weak for this build. 280x and 270x is a BIG difference. 270x would not be that much faster then your 660.

this seems to be the only r9 280x available in Australia, it is still good 60 bucks under the price of gtx770 and performance wise it is pretty much the same as 770.

Ok, I misread your first post, but I've fixed it. Thank you! I think this is what I'm going to build.
