What is the difference between 4 6 8 core? Please explain.
From a gaming perspective, which is better?

Out of these 3 which would be the best for gaming, and livestreaming gameplay, and occasional server hosting:
Intel Core i7 4770K
Intel Core i5-4670K
AMD FX 9370

For intel processors, which motherboard would go best with either of them? As well as overclocking
-MSI Z87-G45?

If you are already looking into overclocking, you really should learn about CPUs more. Here is a primer on multi-core CPUs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-core_processor

Basically, more cores = more threads that the CPU can run at the same time if the application supports it. Some programs still don't bother using more than one core, some scale to 2-4 cores only, some (mostly high end and scientific programs) can do a good job with dividing up work to as many cores as you give them.

Many games don't scale too well to more than 2 or 4 cores.

Building a gaming rig with roughly a $1200 USD budget using a GTX 770 graphics card, what would you recommend for the rest of the system? Are there better choices for other motherboards and cpus?

Spin off from rolli. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2BZSq
No need to go for the i7 for gaming. i5 and 770 will run max everything just fine.

I choose to over kill the wattage so that you have plenty of options in the future including sli with a good amount of wattage head room for peace of mind.

Also changed out the mid tower to a full tower. You will have lots of room for install, future additions, easy air circulation, and most importantly IMO full towers just look so much better :D You can pick whatever full tower you want there is still wiggle room in the budget.

Could even jump up to a mobo with a few more features as well. I am trying to help you get a build that will also give you a good amount of options in the future (future proofing).

Good luck, I hope every thing works out for you buddy!!
