I am using a corsair vx550w PSU and a Belkin 6 pin surge protector,

My system spec is i7 2600k, asus P8Z77 LX, 4 gb Corsair ram, 1 Gb Sapphire 7750 ddr5 Card, 1 Tb sea-gate HDD and a DVD RW.
yesterday my machine crashed by making a loud noise and took down the power of the whole house, I also sensed a burning smell coming out of the PSU. My PSU is still under warranty so it will get replaced.

I want to know the best possible solution for me so that this type of accident will not happen in future and to keep my computer safe. I have never used any UPS so please guide me with the best suitable UPS.

I am living in Mumbai, India and here power fluctuation in less.

ok, psu failures are generally due to either earthing issues, or power quality issues.

What you can do is to have the grounding checked to see if any feedback current is present, and buy a stabilizer (careful with the wattage) or a UPS. It costs less than 1,500 for a budget UPS.
