Hey guys! I'm looking to bring together a new computer. I've currently looked at the AMD CPUs but decided I want Intel instead. Could you help me find something good for the budget that works with the rest of the components?

Budget:
About $200 for each.

Other specs:
Memory - G.Skill Ripjaws X 8GB (2x4GB)
SSD - Samsung EVO 840 120GB 2.5"
HDD - WD Blue 1TB 3.5"
GPU - EVGA GeForce GTX 770 2GB
Case - Fractal Design R4 Define Black Pearl
PSU - XFX ProSeries 750W 80+ (750W was only 10 bucks more than 650W)
Optical Drive - ASUS DRW-24F1ST
OS - Windows 8.1 OEM (64-bit)

Also, would I notice an increased performance compared to my current computer?
Specs:
CPU - Intel i7 940 @ 2.93GHz
GPU - GeForce 9600GT
OS - Windows 7 Enterprise
PSU - 450W (don't know the brand)

As I understand it I have a pretty powerful computer, even though it's old. Would it be enough simply replacing GPU and PSU?

Solution
You will notice a big improvement in performance going to a 4670K or 3570K, especially if you overclock it.

I also recommend the Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H, or D3R - I love Gigabyte motherboards. Or you can wait to see what the next generation intels offer - but I wouldn't hold my breath. If you do upgrade now you should be relatively future proof - the current intels are FAST.

Edit : Note if you went the 3570K route you would need a Z77 motherboard, the Z78 above is not compatible.. Just didn't want to be misleading.

I've heard the Haswell-E with DDR4 is supposed to cost about $1000?

I'm just wondering if I will notice any bigger difference with the other specs, other than the GPU. Like, if I should replace the GPU and keep the other parts?

You could always replace the GPU and PSU and wait for the next gen Intel CPUs "Broadwell" or even the refreshed Haswell, which will come out in Q2: http://www.techpowerup.com/196865/intel-core-haswell-refresh-lineup-slated-for-q2.html

Well that's hopefull, but currently amd can't touch the 3570k or 4670k, let alone the i7 models. Competing with the flagship 4930k?

I'll believe it when I see it. Intel could definetely use the competition... That could lead intel back into using flux less soldier and other overclocker friendly improvements. Currently the have the market spanked, and no one can prove otherwise, at least on the high end. Don't get me wrong and offers some decent values, but they can't beat a 3570k or better - sorry!
