PNY DDR3 1600Mhz RAM will only boot at 1333Mhz setting

I Have a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 (Rev. 4.0) using a single 8GB stick of PC 12800 (1600Mhz) RAM. According to the manufacturers website, the MB can handle DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1866/1600/1333/1066 speeds. When I set the 1600Mhz frequency in BIOS the computer fails to boot and the BIOS will reset it to 1333Mhz and boot automatically. I have tried setting the voltage to 1.65v, timings to 9 9 9 24 and resetting the CMOS to no avail. As far as I can see there is no XMP profile setting in this BIOS.

Try borrowing different RAM module and tetsing.

Try updating your bios first, and there is no xmp on amd rigs.. look for docp or eocp. The bios update may be required, are tue 9-9-9-24 timings listed on the sticks? You didnt mention a model so i cant look em up.

Desktop Memory Model MD8192SD3-1600-X9 is the exact RAM im using. The BIOS is on version f2 which is the latest available. I tried starting the system with a 2gb stick of g.skill ddr3 1600 but it was the same issue, it started at 1333mhz and the system wouldn't boot after I set it to 1600mhz

What processor? Some of the pheonoms cant run 1600 even a few of the X1XX series processors
