Games freeze and CPu spikes

Hello, every time I try to play a game at high res it will freeze after 5 minutes and crash.This happens with all my games sadly,I have an I5 3570 and I recently bought a R9 280 X sapphire.I've tried updating the drivers, changing the ram,downclocking, reinstalled windows 8 to no avail.I bought a new PSU and still nothing.I seriously don't know what else to try.I thought it was a graphics issue but I'm not so sure now.when my games freeze the CPu shows a 100 % load.So I suppose it's a CPU issue.

I think that is an issue with Windows 8.1. I have it and have had this same problem. After doing numerous scans with different Anti-virus programs I figured it was a virus. I removed the virus and it stopped freezing. If you have downloaded anything from unknown/un-trusted websites uninstall them and do some scans with Antivirus programs such as Microsoft Security Essentials, Malewarebytes, ect. If it doesn't work than I don't know what else to do.
