How much Performance increase will i see in gaming?
3.4ghz doesn't sound like much when i am currently at 4.8ghz stable.
i also have a friend that says he will buy my board and processor for $200 so that covers the new processor pretty much and then the upgrade would only cost me $150 if i get a cheap board.

Solution
if you claim you can max everything out on a gtx 560 and bulldozer cpu then don't bother with the i5...honestly to me and I know this is subjective, but, games that are very cpu intensive, I haven't cared for the actual game itself much. If you have the money to blow, sure get the i5, but people make it out to be that AMD can't even play minesweeper with how bad people talk them down >_>

It says right on their website "these benchmarks are synthetic, they may not truly represent gaming performance." but if you say they can be trusted, then they are very compelling. the fx-4170 only beats the i5 once by .9% and the i5 wins by 50% on average.

i have GTX 560 GPU. And i haven't found a game that doesn't run maxed out on it. 50-60fps unless i'm play Kerbal space program which is very very heavy on the processor i run 7-15fps

Well it won't really help your performance if you are using a GTX 560. But i think it will still be a really good choice for the future, you can easily upgrade your gpu and have a huge performance increase (GTX 770 or something). And don't just look at clock speed, the i5 will indeed destroy the bulldozer.

Yes my GPU is dated but i can still run every game i own at maxed out settings, so whats the point of upgrading it? unless you can find a GPU for $150 that blows mine out of the water im not interested. i payed $120 new for the GPU i have now.

A good move if you like gaming, especially if you overclock the i5. The 4670k is 5-10% faster than a 3570k at equal clocks.

yeah that's the impression I'm getting but i fail to see their argument when im play assassin's creed 4 with no lag at maxed out settings maybe when my i5 get here ill post some charts of my own lol. i hope it blows my Fx4170 out of the water and then some otherwise i just wasted $350 on a new mobo and processor

Have a look at benchmarks before buying anything to see if it's worth it for you.

well the i5-4670k beat the bulldozer by 33% which equals an increase of 10fps in Kerbal Space program so the game is playable now lol. For twice the money and 2 years newer i would have expected it to be a 50% faster though, but its still well worth it. Time to overclock the Shiznit out of it... hopefully it can overclock as well as my 4170 4.2-4.8ghz so 3.4-4.0ghz. if only i knew how to attach photos i would show you guys the benchmarks .
