Wifi signals weak on one laptop and strong on another

Hi guys, In my house hold we have two of the exact same laptops and on one laptop (mine) the
signal is low. I check on speedtest.net and my download speed is 3.0. Now on to the other laptop, when i check on speedtest.net it gets a 24.0 download speed.
Is there anything i can do to resolve this issue?

To ensure there isn't any spyware, hardwire the laptop and run the test (if its the same, then run spybot to clean it up) else make certain you have the latest wifi card drivers on your laptop and check the router channel. usually changing this help, because there might be devices that interfere with that channel that is currenly on.

I ran Spybot and it came up with nothing. My wifi card is up to date and on our router i'm not to sure how to change the router channel nor do i know if it can. It's a router we got from Bright House.
