mechanical keyboards are definitely very nice and many people can appreciate them over normal rubber dome keyboards however with that said they are not for everyone. they do tend to be louder.
i'm oldschool so i've got to say the model m (or the unicomp classics which are a remake) are the best (for reliability and sturdyness at least) though well known and respected brands are wasd, maxkeyboards, das, ducky, deck, and corsair. havent really heard much about the gigabyte but i've heard about the storm scout before and havent heard anything too bad. i'd avoid razer.
