How does the white thermal paste compare to the gray stuff. I just up graded my single core athlon to a dual core and the temps went from 30 up to 66 under load. Also under Lubuntu system profiler it showing 4 diffrent temps.

I forgot to mention the single core athlon had the grey thermal paste(dell) and the dule core athlon is using radio shack white thermal paste, as that's all they have. I ordered grey thermal paste bu it didn't arrive yet.

I don't know what type of gray past it was on the single core athlon, as it what was used at the Dell factory. The white thermal paste I used from radio shack looked like elemers glue. Hears the paste I ordered http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008MIMB0E/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . I don't think the temps should be 66 almost 70 when the single core was only 30. The old processor was an athlon 64 3500+ 62w(according to newegg) and the new one is a athlon x2 5000B 65w(according to newegg.

I used the same white paste on my pentium D system, and the heat sink didn't get very hot, like it did before. I think I'll wait till the paste I have coming before I buy more. I cleaned the paste off and applied less this time and still temps are 66-70. When I took the heatsink off, most of the paste squashed off the cpu.
