I would like to know what is better for gaming and I had the thought that is I have an APU (Kaveri) and pair it up to a gpu r7 260x etc what kind of performance will I get on a 1080p monitor, everything maxed out except for the anti-allising and motion blur.

Solution

Because you can get better price/performance with other products. Newegg is selling the 7850k for $190. You can get an FX 6300 and HD 7770 for about $195 and be far better off.

The a10 7850k is almost impossible to find, and it only has 4 cores, so it kinda sucks in games. You are better of with an fx 8320. And then use the rest of your money on a good gpu. I can recommend one for you if you tell me your budget. And what kinda games will hou be playing?

For the long run, Intel CPUs holds up very well.

An i7-920 purchased in 2008 on average is very close to an FX-8350 purchased in 2012 in terms of game performance.

I would avoid the AMD A10-7850k APU altogether. There while AMD has made some improvements versus the now older Richland APU, the fact that clockspeeds have been lowered offset much of the performance improvements AMD has done. Of course you can overclock it, but they will be less power than AMD's FX Piledriver CPUs which are in turn less powerful than Intel's Core series CPUs.
