Hello all,
noob here. I have a question about what memory to buy. My MB is a GIGABYTE GA-Z77-D3H
(Spec 4×240pin) DDR3 2400(OC)/1600/1333/1066 Maximum Memory Supported 32GB
Channel Supported Dual Channel). Currently have 8G (4x2) memory installed DDR3 PC3-12800.

Can I buy 2 more sticks of the same (or 2x8) and install in the open slots (2 and 4)? do they all have to be the same type or brand? Is there anything I need to be aware of before I buy? Does the timing matter? would something like this work? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277

Thx for the help!

You can try it, no guarantee the mixed sets will play together, if anything would suggest a 2x8GB set at the same specs timing and voltage wise, that way you have the 16GB you want, then if the older sticks will play nice, you'd have an additional 8GB bonus (24GB total) or could just sell off the old sticks and recoup some of what you spend back or use the old sticks in another computer

I was using solidworks and a few other programs at the same time and the low memory warning keeps popping up.

I just wanted to make sure that I can install more RAM in the open slots and it will work with the existing RAM, with no compatibility issues. Will the computer automatically recognize it? Can I mix 2400 (PC3 19200)with 1600 (PC3-12800) RAM (2 of each)?

Thx!
