Never heard of this CCC? Laptop is both running very, very slow & hanging, ie freezing or stuck in a loop? Do i need this CCC? I am a novice but have tried all advice. Please help i you are still there in Jan 14?

CCC is the Catalyst Control Centre with which you can configure the settings for your laptop's AMD/ATI brand graphics adapter.

It's best to leave it installed, but there is no need for it to be running all the time in the background (the default) because you can access it from Windows Control Panel when required.

Thank you Phllip for your reply but..... my name Daftirishman is not there by accident. I recently uninstalled CCC as i had never heard of it and thought perhaps that was the problem. So should i reinstall it? + How do i access it and for what reason and what should i do when i can access it??? Yeah simple to you perhaps and i thank you.

No need to re-install it if your laptop is working okay without it.

Uninstalling CCC does not remove the graphics drivers, they are obviously still installed so you are okay.

When you first install the AMD graphics driver package in custom install mode, you can opt to just install the drivers without CCC, that's effectively what you've got now - just the drivers. That's fine.

Hi again Phil, i'm still as daft as ever! Being blinded by science comes to mind ha ha. Think it's time this daftirishman became intelligent and buys a new laptop. This old Emachines i will donate to my local museum. Thanks.
PS. So much about this whole 'ask a question' thing i don't understand. Like 'earn a badge'? So what's that all about?
