Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for reading this, really appreciate it.

I wanted to ask if you could offer some advice on this one. I am fitting the Corsair H110 into the top part of the Corsair 750D case using the AF140 fans instead of the supplied 140mm dual fans. I am also using the supplied AF140L fans in the case (which came with it) together with an SP120 High Performance fan placed at the bottom of the case to eject the GPU hot air of the HD7990.

The only problem is that I've seen images on the internet how the radiator is positioned and what the instruction manual advises.

The manual advises that it recommends position the fans such that they drag in air into the radiator and move into the chassis. I've seen images where people have positioned the fans below the radiator to eject the warm air of the chassis through radiator outwards.

I don't agree with the idea of dragging air into the case through the radiator - you could easily risk causing build up of dust and potentially increasing the temperature of the case.

My view is to attach the AF140 fans above the radiator to suck the heat from the radiator outwards.

Does anyone else have any experience of having installed the radiator and fans this way?

Any help would be highly respected.

Thanks.

Thanks for replying back so quickly!

I just feel if the fans drag in cool air, the air will automatically become heated thusly heating up the temperature within the case.

What I can do is to elevate the case higher from the ground and reverse the airflow of the SP120 High Performance fan so it brings in air from the bottom which should eventually rise to the top of the case. Personally, I think the AF140 fans sucking the heat from the radiator and ejecting outwards should be an effective solution, but I agree with what you say, I'll try both ways and see what happens.

Thanks a lot for that mate.

The best way to find out what way fans work in your case and for your cooler is to test. I spent a few days reversing the flow of all my fans 1 by 1, letting it hit room temp, then running prime for 10mins each time and checking the temps at the end till I found the best setup for me. It's a mix of in and out for the directions but it works and everything is cool.

Just one last question, and I hope this won't be construed daft, but did you splat any thermal paste on the CPU before bolting the liquid cooler? I have Arctic Silver 5 ready to be :p- -

Fantastico, thank you for confirming that. I don't think I got any stock thermal paste with the cooler which gave me the impression that maybe it's not a requirement.

I'll get right onto installing it now. Thanks again :)
