I am looking at the ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 and will be using a AMD FX-6100 Six Core CPU (FD6100WMGUSBX). Will a PSU with 4 pins be ok?

The PSU is a 450W PSU that comes with the Thermaltake V2 Plus VO54521N2U case, so it will probably be not that great...

This will be a server computer under heavy load with ~2 hard drives and a cheap HD5450 graphics card.

Thanks for the help,
Sam

No that included PSU is very poor , you will need a new one.

6 cores flat out that chip pulls 127 watts. It might even melt the plug.
I wouldnt risk it.

Sorry, I looked at a page and saw a graph, it was at the wall. 95 watts is still too much to pull through a 4 pin plug. watts divided by volts = amps. I dont know how much cpu is coming off the board, but thats intel quad level power on half the socket. Too much!

If the socket overheats, you will brick the board. You need the xfx anyway to run a graphics card.
You got no option but to lose the doorstop psu or its tears at bedtime.

Buy a case without a psu. The ones with are $20 more, the psu is worth $5. Why do you think they sell em?
Its no bargain.
