Hello!

I recently bought a new computer for gaming purpose:

Motherboard : MSI 760GMA-P34 (FX)
CPU : AMD FX 8320 (eight cores)
GPU: GeForce GTX 770

What started to nag me was that while usually running around (Vsyn on - ubersampling off @ 1920 X 1080 other settings at highest possible) at 60 FPS , the FPS would suddenly drop down to 20-25 occasionally, even when just running around in a non graphically intense places. After a few - several seconds at low FPS it would go back high. If I take Vsync off, I can see the same phenomena except normal FPS would well above 100. I emphasize this happens everywhere, be it graphically low or intense situation.

Is there something that causes this that's simply related to this specific game or is it something in my rig?

Why I'm wondering about my rig is that as I was searching for discussions on this problem I ran across CPU bottlenecking. As in the CPU temp could be getting too high so the game slows down a bit so CPU can cool a bit. So I got myself CPUID HW Monitor and started to monitor CPU temp.

On totally idle I get about ~25 C , when using google chrome I get to ~37-39 C and when running Witcher 2 the CPU runs about 60 C with highest temps around 66 C.
On a sidenote I'd have to say that this problem starts to happen when a little bit into the game, few - several minutes, it does not start off the bat. So this kind of leans me a little more towards the CPU temp problem.

I have not overclocked anything, I have an CoolerMaster Hyper TX3 EVO cooler on CPU.

Any ideas , suggestions are much appreciated!

I made another observation @ CPUID HW Monitor - Under motherboard data, there are 3 temperatures - TMPIN 0 / TMPIN 1 / TMPIN 2.

TMPIN 0 is about 38 C at idle and went up to 61 C during game
TMPIN 2 is about 45 C at idle and went up to 48 during game

BUT TMPIN1 is about 60 C at idle and went up to 110 C during game, this measure was on when I alt tabbed from game when it was dropping FPS.

Im not much a PC expert but is that normal? 110 C seems ridiculous

GPU usage peaks 99% on rare moments when playing, average GPU usage is during game is 60-70%. Average temperature during game is ~80 C with the highest peak 86 C. When I get the slow moment, for example in town, and I alt tab the GPU usage is only 60-70%, temp is still around 80 C.
So I can take it from this that my hardware is definitely ok ?

I'm not sure why you're having problems with The Witcher 2 as I also have a GTX 770, FX-8320, and 8 GB of RAM and I run it with 60+ fps. I'm not an expert on troubleshooting PC hardware but it does seem really odd that your TPMIN1 gets up to 110 degrees celsius. You should definitely research more into why your TMPIN1 is reaching such high temperatures. I'll run The Witcher 2 and see if I can find my TMPIN settings so you can see if your TMPIN1 temperature is irregular. We have pretty similar rigs except I use a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO as my CPU cooler, that may affect my TMPIN temperatures.
