I have two Dell D630 laptops, one with Win7 and one with WinXP. I can pair either laptop with my LG surround sound bar, but only the laptop with Win7 can play sounds to the device. WinXP shows no device under the control panel audio tab except for the internal sound card. Is WinXP incapable of linking sound to the device like Win7 does?
Thanks, Dennis

Thanks, but I installed all the D630 Bluetooth drivers previously. Will look and see if I missed something, but it pairs fine in XP also.

XP detects the bluetooth device as "Loudspeaker (audio device)". The problem seems to be that the Control panel is not recognizing it????

What does it say in the device manager?

The device manager lists the bluetooth as:

Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI) #2
Bluetooth Device (Personal area network) #2

XP detects the bluetooth device as "Loudspeaker (audio device)" and it indicates it is paired. It is not coming up under the Audio Tab to select it as the default sound device instead of the Sigmatel audio. Sigmatel audio card is the only one that can be selected.

In the Win7 laptop, I can select either the Sigmatel or the LG Audio device as the default output sound device. Of course in this case, I can then play a song either through the LG Audio or the Sigmatel sound card. I am guessing it is a quirk under WinXP for that particular device somehow since bluetooth was fairly new to WinXP.

Thanks, Dennis

Well, I kinda figured it out. There is something wrong with the Bluetooth stack or related software with the DELL download. The dell bluetooth module is a factory install. However, when I plug in a USB bluetooth and install the USB software that came with the USB bluetooth, then I can PAIR or connect to the LGaudio soundbar. Then when I select the Audio tab under control panel I can select the "LGaudio" device as it is now LISTED in the "down arrow", along with the Sigmatel soundcard output.

However, Now I cannot unplug the USB bluetooth and get the internal bluetooth to be recognized, --- as the drivers and software are now pointing to the USB???

Well, I guess I might as well give up on WinXP and install Win7. Win7 recognizes more stuff anyway and seems to function better than WinXP. At least I don't have to go to Windows8. Even being an IT tech, I don't like Windows8 or Win8.1
