just lower the resolution in-game to 720p, 1366x768 or 1200x720,etc. I played games on low fine with my i5 3570k using the hd4000 graphics fine till I could get my GPU, but don't expect much.

'If you want a rough idea of what it can do, I was able to play SWTOR on medium settings with absolutely no hiccups on my 1600x900 sized screen (on whatever resolution swtor uses at medium settings, it's been a while so I don't know exactly). I was using HD 4600 on my 4670k cpu (not overclocked). Hopefully this helps to give you a rough estimate

Fast RAM in dual channel will help out a lot. Does your motherboard support xmp?

intel HD 4600 can play minecraft and league of legends on medium.
I dont know about dayZ.
HD 4600 was a huge improvement from HD 4000.
But IGP's perform better with high-speed ram.

Just tested this out with League of Legends at 2560 x 1400. It's not an intensive game at all.

Shadows and AA disabled, everything else on high. Frame rate is 60 95% of the time, the only time I notice lag is when a nexus is destroyed it'll show 50. Loads really fast. Shadows are what bogs it down the most in my experience, so I turned them off, and AA not needed at this res.

4770k 4.4Ghz, Maximum Hero, 2 x 8GB 2133 9-11-11-31, Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB, and integrated graphics right meow.

Go with an AMD APU. They're like 20-40% faster than HD graphics as is, plus you get additional boost in games that use Mantle.

While my gpu was on the way I used the ig on my 4770k, I got about 20fps on all low bf4, I was running at 1080p, so around 40fps at 720p

LoL will run at medium-high settings at constant 60FPS
Minecraft and combat arms will run without problem.
DayZ will be a bit more demanding so just lower the resolution for it.

CTturbo mayyyyybeee you should check some benchmarks before saying Intel hd4600 is not capable of 720p medium settings.

This shows all modern games run just fine at 720p medium.Dropping to low will increase the frame rate even more.
