Building my first PC and having possible PSU/motherboard problems

I have my power supply plugged into an electrical outlet and switched it on but nothing happens. This is my first PC build so it is likely that I am just missing the obvious but I have checked the wiring thoroughly and have found nothing wrong and I have gone through a couple of troubleshooting guides but had no luck. The only thing I have found through troubleshooting is that I have no motherboard speaker but I am not sure that that is much of a problem. I would really appreciate any help.

Solution
Yes, this is why I said to try the jumping of the pins directly on the motherboard. Try doing that, but read the manual first to figure out exactly the two pins you need.

Hello

At first glance it looks like a faulty power supply, but it also may be that you did not plug them in correctly or that you didn't put the plugs in the correct sockets. A question, did you check that you plugged a cable which says "CPU" on it in the power for your CPU cooler socket. Or did you forget to plug in the 24 pin connector?
And if you don't mind me asking, do you have a list of components so i can check the compatibility?

Yes I did plug in the CPU cable into the motherboard and I also checked that it was plugged in correctly. I also have the 24 pin connector plugged in all the way. Here is a list of components: AMD A10-5800K APU, MSI FM5MA-E35 motherboard, 8 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 kit, 500 GB Western Digital Caviar Blue hard drive, 430W Corsair CX430 Power supply. Is any way to test if my power supply is dead? I have heard of the paperclip test but I have also heard that that can ruin your power supply by doing the paperclip test. I also wanted to know, would having the front panel pins put in wrong prevent the computer from turning on?
