Best gpu at 1600x900

Need to know what gpu I should get to get 60 fps on games like tomb raider and splinter cell blacklist. I have a gtx 660 and getting about 30 on ultra.

Budget $500. But if I don't need to spend that to get 60fps on games like I listed that would the the end goal.

The GTX 770 2GB would be an all around good card for that.
Its under the 500 mark, offers enough power to be worth the upgrade, and has great quality.
I would get either the ASUS DCUII model, or the EVGA ACX.

If you want Ultra at 60fps constant, a GTX 770 or R9 280x would probably do the trick. Definitely overkill though, really not worth the upgrade. These 2 cards are designed for Ultra at 1920X1080 but they wont necessarily maintain 60fps. The GTX 660 is still a really good card at 1600X900

if you are getting 30fps with a gtx660 at 1600x900, then you are probably cpu bottlenecked. a gtx660 would be optimal for that resolution. Or maybe just turn down your settings from ultra, or at least turn off AA, should gain you some fps. if you dont gain fps when reducing resolution or turning off aa, then you are cpu bottlenecked. What cpu do you have?

The 780 would be overkill unless you upgrade the resolution, but like above the 660 should be good enough.

I don't know for sure what I'm getting but I know it's not 60 lol. I've got the 660 with a fx 600 4.1ghz

yeah what cpu do you have? the 660 is a decent card even for 1080p high settings, and you're on 1600x900....it should get more than 30fps

Try downloading MSI afterburner. That CPU is powerful enough to run the 660, and just about good enough for the 770.

Fx 6300 at 4.1ghz. Like I said not sure if it's 30 but I know not 60

I'm using the precision x tool for it right now. I maxed out tomb raider and got 40 fps avg on the in game benchmark

If you have a SLI capable motherboard, I would recommend that you just buy another GTX 660. Saves money, and it will max out those games.

I ran low on funds and got a cheaper mobo with only on slot. So that's why I'm looking for a single card. The gtx 660 sc I got isn't bad just was wondering what card would be able to get me 60fps.

do what i said, reduce the screen resolution, if you can crank resolution down and get your fps to 60fps, then you arent being bottlenecked by your cpu. If you arent gaining much by dropping resolution down, then upgrading your gpu isnt going to do a whole lot.
