Hello.

I recently got the XPS8700 with Intel Core i7 3.4GHz , 24GB Ram, GeForce GT 635 GPU.

The PC is working great, however, I really want a graphic card upgrade, to get the best experience.

The GPU I was looking at was the Radeon R9 290.

I realized my PSU wasn't strong enough to supply this GPU.

- The PSU I wanted to get was a Builder series CX750W Link: http://www.corsair.com/en/power-supply-units/cx-series-...\

- The GPU link: http://rog.asus.com/269042013/graphics-cards-2/the-asus...

My questions are, is the PSU I want to get compatible with the GPU, is my PC big enough to fit the GPU, is the GPU compatible with my Motherboard.

Thanks.

That PSU should have no issue with the system. The R9 290 is about 10.8 inches long (sorry im an American lol). I'd take the side off the case and use a tape measure or a ruler and see how long the gap will be where the video card will normally sit.

But to answer your question about it working with your motherboard, It will work just fine with both the GPU and PSU. But the question is, will the card fit in there.

I'd rethink what GPU you're getting.
I agree with Viking, measure your case. If you really want that card, then you need that 750w for sure.

The powersupply looks fine for anything really. The GPU is good but overpriced at the moment because of Miners picking up all the R9 gpu's that they can. A GTX 780 would give you very similar performance for about $80 cheaper http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Thats the Asus version. But if you still want to go with AMD go right ahead:)

If you live by a microcenter, you might try to stop in and see if they have any R9 290's in stock. I got mine there for 389 when newegg had them for over 500. I don't know why they were selling them at the "correct" price then, but they were, and might be still.

I'm an AMD Radeon fan, but I agree with jd_w98. Radeon cards are outrageous right now because Bitcoin miners are purchasing them in large quantities. In many places the price of a high end Radeon is $100 more than the MSRP. I own a Dell XPS7100 and I easily fit a GTX660 into the case. You should have no problems with a larger card. However I highly recommend you consider buying a GTX770 as the GeForce is a much better value than a Radeon at the moment.
