Hello.

I recently got the XPS8700 with Intel Core i7 3.4GHz , 24GB Ram, GeForce GT 635 GPU.

The PC is working great, however, I really want a graphic card upgrade, to get the best experience.

The GPU I was looking at was the Radeon R9290.

I realized my PSU wasn't strong enough to supply this GPU.

- The PSU I wanted to get was a Builder series CX750W Link: http://www.corsair.com/en/power-supply-units/cx-series-...\

- The GPU link: http://rog.asus.com/269042013/graphics-cards-2/the-asus...

My questions are, is the PSU I want to get compatible with the GPU, is my PC big enough to fit the GPU, is the GPU compatible with my Motherboard.

Thanks.

Your motherboard will support the GPU. Also the GPU should fit, and all high-wattage PSU's are compatible with the GPU's. I would extremely recommend this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
It has higher wattage than the one you chose, same efficiency. fully modular, and it has the ability to light up blue. The price is great as well, $100 regularly and on sale right now for $85!

I hope this helped, if so please select this as the best answer! If not, ask me any questions!

All the power supply I want are all out of stock in my local area. Do you think a 600w PSU will work?

600w will probably do the trick. BUT. The R9 series is really overpriced at this time for the performance it gets you because of Bitcoin and Litecoin miners wanting the best Graphics card thus supply and demand taking affect. They are selling them over $100 more than retail. A cheaper option with very similar performance would be the Nvidia Geforce 780. I dont know if you are in the US but here is a link to the version I recommend. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I am very sorry for not replying within a timely manner. I have not been on the forums in quite a while. A 600watt power supply will work with most. Check out some video card comparison sites to compare the R9 290 to the 780 he picked (jd_w98). You can see which is better for the price and the reliability, etc.

Have a nice Valentine's day,

What are you planning to do with the rig? What is the resolution of your monitor(s)? If its 1080p you should go with the R9 270/ 270x.
If its 1440p-2560p (2560p is pushing it) you should shoot for the R9 280 or the 280x. 2560p and up you should go with R9 290, or multiple (2) 280x's. The R9 series is also extremely overpriced right now, also how large is your case because these are HUGE cards? You would be able to run a 280x with a 650w PSU,and a 270x off of a 550w.
