I recently bought a HD 7770 ultra oc and it says it can support up to 4 monitors well I am only looking for 3 just as a for fun thing. However after connecting all three to the graphics card only 2 would have a desktop showing. After some searching I discovered that I needed to run the third as a displayport, so i ordered an HDMI to display port chord and connected it to my main monitor. In catalyst its seeing all three but still only allows me to have two selected.

Monitors are:
1. 32in insignia (connected via HDMI to Displayport)
2. 15in Dell E152FP (connected via VGA to DVI adapter)
3. 17in Dell 1704FP (conected using DVI)

Any help would be appreciated.

In contrast, active adapters will actively translate the DVI signal coming from the monitor into a native DisplayPort signal for the GPU (and vice versa). A native DisplayPort signal is required for AMD Eyefinity because DisplayPort signals can be synchronized by the GPU to keep all of your monitors moving in concert.
This DisplayPort signal can also be synchronized with DVI and HDMI signals, but only two of these signals may be utilized on an AMD Radeon™ GPU. This is why AMD Eyefinity technology requires a native DisplayPort signal for the third (or higher) monitor.

I know this is a little over due but i finally got the spare money for an active adapter and that fixed it. just sucks that the cheap ones are the price of 3+ normal chords.
