So I recently finished a build with a Cooler Master HAF X Blue case. It comes with 4 really nice chassis fans with blue LEDs in them. However, 2 of the fans are getting power/spinning, but not lighting up. The other two seem to work perfectly fine. I wouldnt think that 2/4 fan LEDs would be DOA, but I don't know how to troubleshoot this issue. Could you please give me a hand?

Oh and also, all of the fans have a weird wire coming from them. Never seen them before. Its really short, has a small cube shaped plastic end, and has a little white piece of plastic sticking out of the cube. What could this be?

Does this cube have little holes on the bottom of them? If so you need to plug them in.

I'm not sure, I'm not home right now, I do feel like they need to be plugged into something. Do you happen to know where they might go? Now that you mention it, I think I remember the 2 not working having those cables and the 2 that are working don't seem to have them. I have them all plugged into 4pin molex connectors (which I hate, the pins always try to come out when you make the connection! Why have we not converted to something as easy as usb)

Oh, I forgot to mention. I have 2 more led fans that did not come with the case (also cooler master) they do not have the weird cable and they work fine.

SOOOOO, I finally think I might know what the issue is. Apparently those short wires are SWITCHES! So, I wont have a chance to test this until tomorrow, but apparently you just press the white plastic pin on the end of the wire to turn the led on or off.

I will get back to you with results as soon as possible. I hope this helps someone else in the future.

Hi ranger133x,

On top of the case there is a ON/OFF switch for the LED's, the little cube that you notice is the connector for the ON/OFF switch cable.
The best shot is to find the 2 disconnected cables that must lead to those connectors (the connectors are unique so they will only fit if you got the right one)

if you still experience problems please let me know :)

SOLUTION: The short wires are in fact switches/buttons. Press the prong like piece to turn LEDs on/off
