I want to know why the the current [Jan20124] price R9 280x in Mumbai, India.
also since globally price for gtx 770 was slashed 2-3 months back after the launch for NEW R9 280x gpu,to around [$340-$350] but in India the price its still very high around [ $450 to $480 ] ...

should i wait for some more time ???
is its safe to buy from www.amazon.com [from USA to india ] or from www.newegg.com ?? YES the, what will shipping cost ??

i wanted to say blame it on khangress, but then i'd be wrong and would have turned this honest question political. not today, i won't.

the reason is that imports have varying taxation and GPUs have some of the highest, i think close to sports cars, etc.

another contributing factor is economics of supply and demand, and very few really buy them. so the vendors cannot position them as cheap actually.

also, it has always been and will be that high end gpus are a luxury item for just a few rich. of course, the word 'a few rich' is getting redefined in emerging markets, thanks to all the economic prosperity

simple. suppliers dont want to lose their profit margin. if the stock doesnt sell in due time yes then they will lower the price. still gpu are considered a luxury item in india. other factors involve including, taxing, shipping, other charges etc. shipping cost depends per country to country sum charge per pounds, sum like USA free within the region. highly depends. better to check with aramex or fedex

here in australia the cheapest 770 is $429, so the prices arent down globally. they prices have actually gone up, even 280x cant be had for $409 here, and only a few months ago you could get one for $380. Im glad i got my 7970 when it was on clearance for $350, as its the same gpu as a 280x. Its shortage of supply and the litecoin/bitcoin miners that have driven prices up. Maybe check ebay for a cheap deal on a 7970. Although a quick look at ebay and i could actually break even or make some money off what i paid for my 7970 a couple months ago.
maybe settle for a gtx760 or a 270x, they are still pretty good cards for 1080p gaming at high detail settings.
