I wanted to switch my processors, and when I put the new one in, It fits and everything, same socket and brand, it boots, it posts, but then there's 3 outcomes that happen.
1. It says verifying DMI data....... and it just stays there, it never continues, that sometimes happens
2. sometimes if it gets past the verifying DMI data, my screen goes black, and just stays black for hours, i'm guessing it froze, but that also sometimes happens.
3. sometimes my computer boots and post, but before I get to the windows 8 logo, I get the BSOD, saying something like "Couldn't get digital signature" or "windows failed to load windows boot files"
Those are the 3 things my PC does when I try to boot up my computer with the new processor in it. Also, my pc never even posted my new CPU until I updated the bios, and then it posted, but then it'll do 1 of the 3 options I listed above. People have said to change my bios settings of my hard drive to ahci to ide or vice versa, but I have looked through my entire bios and there isn't that option. I think that's my solution but unless it's a lot more complicated to change it, I don't know how to. Any help will be appreciated.
Processor in my computer that works: Intel Pentium Dual CPU E210 @ 2.00GHz
New processor: Intel Pentium Dual CPU E6500 @ 2.93GHz
Motherboard: Acer Aspire m1610
I think that's all the system spec's you need.
