I have a HP Pavilion g7 1261nr that has worked fine until this past weekend. I tried turning my laptop on and it suddenly shut off after it booted up like it regularly does. The first time I booted up my laptop, I was able to log in before it shut off. After that, it would shut off a few seconds after I pressed the power button. A couple of days went by with this issue and I found that taking out the battery and only using the power cord was the only way my laptop would stay on. After trying again with the battery a few days later, the option to repair came on when I booted up my laptop. This seemingly fixed the issue and my laptop worked again with both the power cord plugged in and the battery in its slot. Today when I turned on my laptop, the fan hissed loudly and nothing appeared on the screen. After a few more attempts, my laptop would turn on but then it turned off with either the battery, power cord, or both connected at the same time.

it could be overheating or a loose cable, if you dont want to risk taking it apart yourself take it to a repair place, failing that boot to the bios and sit it idle there, if it doesnt crash or shutdown then it is a software problem such as windows itself or a virus, in this case you could try and reinstall or buy a new hdd

Ran the bios thing and fell asleep and I'm sure my laptop shut off before it was done. Turned it back on and its back to normal, at least for now. I was running the bios on battery only so I'm not sure if the battery just died or not. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
