I currently have the 620w version of this http://www.cougar-world.com/us/products/power_supplies/...

It's not really known but still has 80% Efficiency and 2 +12Vs.

Will I get any benefits from switching to a M12II or RXM650? Aside from better cable management from a modular PSU.

This is I'm running with it:
280x VaporX at stock, sometimes at 1130/1680 w/ 1.2v.
FX6300 at 4.3ghz/1.36v
Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
1 SDD/1HD
8GB GSkill RipJaws Ram
Antech 630 Kuhler
7 Total fans.

I experience random freezes when playing Tomb Raider.
This also happens like 1-2 times a week randomly when I'm just browsing the internet.

Really not sure whether it's the CPU, Mobo, Ram or PSU but the PSU is the my suspected culprit since it's the only "budget" part on my build. Though I'm comparing it to a M12II and the specs are nearly identical. (2 12v at 44a vs 48v)

Use this tiered list when picking PSUs: http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/323050.aspx

Your link doesn't take us to a specific PSU, just the whole list of what Cougar makes. I know they have some good ones, so you may have a great PSU but I can't tell lol

But if it's the one with dual 22a +12v rails, that's the minimum for a 280x, so if it is getting pushed at all that may be the problem. It's generally recommended these days to go with a strong single +12v rail to power the PC. What would be your budget on a new PSU if you had to get one?

And it's not the CPU 99 times out of 100, and 98 times out of 100 problems with the RAM or motherboard will throw BSOD or other problems as well.

Yeah it's the SL600 (not on tier list) one which is rated "up to" 80% but isn't bronze certified. I think it did BSOD.....like once and I had to do a system restore.

I've been looking around and the M12II and RM650 are around my budget.

Haha would love to do that but I don't have a spare PSU just lying around.

Good stuff. Basically im looking at corsair, seasonic, rosewill and antec. Whichever is available to me since I don't have the luxury of microcenter and newegg. lol
