I'm trying to use an i5 3570k in my Dell Optiplex 9010, I installed it and it just keeps rebooting? Would a bios update fix this? Any other suggestions would be helpful thanks. The real reason is I want to put the i7 in my custom rig. Thanks for any input

Solution
Check this..page 12. This pc supports the 3570 as of July of the year it came out..
http://i.dell.com/sites/doccontent/shared-content/data-sheets/en/Documents/dell-optiplex-9010-spec-sheet.pdf
I am not sure if the bios update will work for it or not...but it can be found here..
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/optiplex-9010
This is what the bios fixes..
1.Addressed display port issue.
2.Addressed system cannot resume from s5 by timer after power loss.
3.Addressed WHQL issues for Win8.1
4.Addressed keyboard issue via AMT management tool.
5.Addressed BIOS Integrated NIC doesn't act correctly.
6.Update Intel Micro Code for sandybridge and ivybridge.

Look like it might help you according to number 6.

Make sure you...

Make sure you know how to update a bios because you can brick your MOBO. Get help from a professional if you are unsure.
