After browsing around the forum I can't believe the price difference between building systems here and in the states.

I paid roughly £650 for my system (see in sig) which I thought was a steal. Bearing in mind a prebuilt system of this spec would cost maybe 100-150 extra.

This equates to about $1050.. I've seen rigs on here for 600-700$ which are similar to my build. Pretty horrible...

Over here VAT is 17.5% which means I paid around £120 extra anyway. Isn't there a 6% sales tax on average in the USA?

Even with taxes my system still cost me around 200$ extra to build over here!

You really can't directly compare prices across borders. Exchange rates, taxes, tariffs, etc all have an impact. In the US, a great deal of the internet sales carry no sales tax at all, BTW.

You are right, though. Generally, prices per component/system, are cheaper in the US than in most other countries.
