I'm going to use the Cooler Master 690 iii case. (http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mid-tower-cm690-series/cm693/)

on the website it says that it includes a Front 200mm stock fan and a rear 120 mm stock fan,
and that I can optionally install 200 mm for top, 2x 120mm for side, 120mm for bottom and 120mm for HDD cage.
my plan is to make my set up as follows:

Front: 200mm Cooler Master Megaflow 200mm Blue LED instead of the stock fan
Rear: 120mm Noctua NF-F12 instead of the stock fan
Top: 200mm stock fan that was attached to the front of the case when bought
HDD Cage: 120mm Noctua NF-F12

and I don't plan on installing any fans on the bottom (next to PSU) or the side since it might be hard to open the case if it's attached to the side.

would this be a good way to install fans for good airflow? I don't want too much fans as it might be noisy. I won't be overclocking since I play games rarely and the games are not high end games that require too much cooling, but i'll be rendering HD videos.

the best config is the one that works for you. Depending on where you tower is, floor or desk, sides partially covered or not, back partially covered or not, etc.

Everyone has an "opinion" on the "best" config, but just because they read a website or it works for them, it may not work for you.

What I did in my PC which has 6 fans total including the 2 for my water cooling rad, is started up my PC in the morning, ran prime95 for 5 mins, got a temp reading, shut down, let it get to ambient room temp, switched a fan, turned on, ran prime95 for 5 mins, got a temp reading, did it increase or decrease? Then I just keep doing that and going till I came up with a setup that give MY computer the best cooling. It may not be "conventional" or...

is it okay to just have 1 exhaust but 3 intakes?

I always thought i'm supposed to even them out- like exhaust and top for exhaust and front and hdd cage for intake.

or should there be more intake than exhaust?
