Hi all,
I have a HP DL380 G5 server with P400 RAID controller. The controller is not detected in BIOS sporadically (i.e. sometimes it will be detected and sometimes it won’t). When I boot the server, I see the initial screen with the HP logo then I see the server initializing (i.e. 16GB detected, 2 processors detected, etc.). Then after it detects the iLO it typically detects the P400 RAID controller. Whenever I reboot the server, it never detects the RAID controller. I must shut down the server then unplug the power, wait for a couple of minutes then re-plug the power cords then hit the power button to start the server (this is when you typically hear the server making the loud sound of testing/initializing all fans, etc.). If rebooted the server or simply click shut down then hit the power button again, almost always the RAID controller won’t be detected and of course the server won’t start because there is no hard drive. I must perform the steps described above to make sure it is detected. I reset the server to factory settings, updated the BIOS to the latest version (using HP SUM), I even replaced the RAID controller but nothing worked. Any thoughts? I’m not expert with hardware at all so please try to be a bit detailed with me :)
