I have two computers. One runs windows 7(Named pc1), the other runs windows xp(named pc2). PC1 runs two hard drives, the primary hd has failed. I am trying to work out two possible solutions but I can't find certain clear cut answers, so here are my possible solutions I need help with.

The first being the best option, getting my secondary hd to work as my primary hd in pc1.

My questions in doing this are:
1)Can I boot my computer up and somehow run my secondary as my primary?
2)Could I just switch the hd's around?

the second option would be to take pc2's hd and put it into pc1's primary slot. I do not have any cd's. I'm very bad at keeping things. Keeping in mind this pc runs xp.

questions being:
1)Could I even do this?
2)How do I do this?

Solution
You could just swap the SATA data cables in the hard drives, or you could adjust the boot priority in the BIOS to set HDD2 as primary. Keep in mind it would need windows installed to work.

Okay, so, I have windows 7 on the primary, and the secondary works off of that. all I would need to do is physically make the switch and then format that drive with the windows cd? correct?

Ya, im fine with losing my stuff.. I mean.. theres no way to really get it back unless I pay someone because the harddrive doesnt work. ill keep it around if i can get someone to look at it, but until then i just want to get my gaming pc back up and running. which leads me to my next question, how do i clear space on my secondary harddrive in preparation for the os install?
