nvidia gts 250 short beeps while playing a game

i have recently upgraded my pc with a fx 4300 quad core n a gigabyte 78 lmt s2 motherboard along with a 8 gb corsair and a gts 250 graphic card.
please let me know if the vip 500watts smps is enough or should i buy the CORSAIR VS-450 CP-9020009-UK 450 Watts PSU.
currently i haad an xtech 550w smps an when i tried using the card with it i heard short beeps at intervals n also got a burning smell.
please help me as to i am confused what the problem is

no it does not beep during normal use,i have an extra fan in the cabinet and i leave one side of the cabinet open for better cooling,i checked the temp of the card just after shutting the game using gpuz and it showed 62 degree celsius, i feel that s not too high cause i was using it at high settings.
